I need help installing custom themes for linux. I can boot into Gnome or KDE and I'm trying to install this theme http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php/deKorator?content=87921

When I follow all the directions, I get an error message. It seems to be well known that it takes some kind of rocket science degree just to be able to install simple software on linux. Is there any documentation that can show how to install software in linux and make it work?

Right click on an empty spot on the desktop, change background, Themes tab Install button. Or System>Preferences>Appearance will get you to the same thing.

Point to the theme you want to install and select install.

There's also Applications>Other>Theme Manager

Are there any good books or resources online that can help me learn more about source code and how to use it?
