Does anybody have any comments or opinions on the two following barebone setups for building a MythTV HTPC:

1) MSI Media Live

2) ASUS P2-M2A690G or M2A3200

It will be used mostly for playing DVD and streaming online video. We only have a 720p LCD and will not be playing and HD or gaming.

Thanks,

Brian

I have a MediaLive. Works great, plays hi def, audio over HDMI works. I never got the component out to work properly, but no complaints other than that.

Did you have any problems with getting the media live to talk to hdmi?

HDMI worked out of the box. I've actually had to replace the motherboard on my medialive. It's still a great looking case.

I would not recommend it if you are planning on using VDPAU. The stock gpu doesn't support it, and the stock riser only supports PCI. I ended up replacing it with a pci-e ribbon riser to get a video card that worked with vdpau.
