I just installed Ubuntu 8.10 inside Vista and when i reboot into it, it hangs at bootsplash, safe graphics mode stops with something like IRC 17.
It won't even boot Live.
Please help.

Try removing the splash screen to see if it provides any other information on why its stops at the boot screen. When you boot and get to the menu where you can choose either windows or ubuntu select 'ubuntu' then press "ESC" this should bring you to the grub menu where you can highlight the ubuntu kernel you want to boot and press "e" then highlight the line starting with "kernel" and press "e" again and remove splash from the end of the line and press "enter" then "b" to boot..
