View Full Version : [kubuntu] No wireless networks seen in knetworkmanager

December 26th, 2008, 12:19 AM
I just updated to kubuntu 8.10 from 8.04 (KDE 3), and my wireless was working fine with knetworkmanager before, but now knm can't see my wireless network for some reason.

If i do an iwlist ath0 scanning in the terminal, I see all the networks fine, but knetworkmanager will only show me a few of them, or none at all. I haven't yet seen it find the network I want to connect to.

Anyone seen this happen?

EDIT: In iwlist, the signal strength of my home network is close to 100%. KNM sometimes shows me much weaker networks, but always ignores that one.

My home network uses WPA security and does not have a hidden SSID.

I have this problem too. I can easily get the gnome network manager to connect to wireless networks.

This problem is present on both my stationary with a broadcom bcm4318 and whatever intel wireless card there is in an eee 1000H

You could try to get hold of the gnome network manager, but im not totally sure how to install it - obviously installing ubuntu-desktop will do this, but it will also install alot of other things - and in my case, make X **** up...
