was it that flaky and has it been discontinued? I read the advisories about potential problems ages ago, but I thought they were exaggerated at the time because I never had an issue nor was directly aware of any.

Hi logos34, Merry Christmas.
I used automatix extensively with Breezy & Dapper and even with Mepis & Debian Etch, never had any problems using it. An upgrade of Breezy(with automatix installed) to Dapper went smoothly. I suppose user's mileage has varied with automatix.

Hi logos34, Merry Christmas.

Hi, Happy Holidays to you too confused57!

Yeah, the way I look at it, somewhere along the line somebody's ubuntu install got pooched and gave automatix a bad reputation! (kidding aside I have no doubt the devs were justified in their warnings, even if the problems were only potential ones)

Hope you're doing fine, chillin' with eggnog and all. Personally, if I hear one more rendition of 'Oh Come All Ye Faithful' I'll go beserk...
