Install to OS 9

Trying to install Ubuntu on PPC G4 / OS 9.2.1 - second hard drive.
Mac will not recognize .iso - says that no app is associated with this file. Am lost and frustrated. Have installed Ubuntu on Dell with no problems but this mac/iso issue is new to me. (Ten years since I last used a MAC!) Help is appreciated.

I got Debian Linux working on an oldworld mac. You need to burn the .iso to a cd with another computer, as Mac OS 9 doesn't know what .iso's are or how to burn them. (Mac OS 9 is extremely out of date)
