Hi, I have a client who is interested in using Ubuntu on his laptop.

He is keen to find a GPL programme that he can use for his work. He is a fitness instructor. Basically he requires a programme that plots the muscle groups in the human anatomy where he can record the vitals / statistics for his clients and allow him to plot the clients progress over time based on various work out regiments.

Any ideas?

I have never found any training software that wasn't more than a glorified spreadsheet, and they are usually not very good. I would create a series of general spreadsheet templates that he can modify to each client, with entries for daily training along with weekly/monthly/etc. assessment measurements (BF %, max VO2, limit strength, sprint speeds, caloric intake, whatever is appropriate). Then from the spreadsheets he can set up graphs that chart the client's progress in a given area. It takes a little while to do the initial set-up, but once it's done it's nice to see all the blanks fill in with data that can be used to fine-tune the training schema.
