no matter how many times i try to install mplayer through synaptic package manager,it does not work.says mplayer crashed.i acnnot install mplayer through terminal using apt as my connection is slow.please help...

What happens if you run it from a terminal?

Are you saying that installing it from a terminal is slower than installing it through synaptic?

mplayer: could not connect to socket
mplayer: No such file or directory
Failed to open LIRC support. You will not be able to use your remote control.




when i install in command line it says unable to resolve"proxy address" it is a problem with my wireless connection..

And did you see a new mplayer window on your desktop?

yes i saw.but it was not working.after 10 seconds spat out saying

"fatal error in module 13"
