View Full Version : [ubuntu] Can't get peristence to work in 8.10 intrepid ibex

Coming from this thread (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1019471) and following these directions (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LiveCD/Persistence) twice, I have been unable to get persistence to work in Intrepid Ibex. It just seems to be ignoring the "persistent" option on boot. My USB drive is blank (except for the Lost and Found) and when I shut down the machine, it saves nothing to the drive. Upon reboot the desktop settings (icons, backgrounds, etc) are back to normal.

Am I doing something wrong? Should I report this as a bug? I can't seem to find any information that specifically addresses whether this works on Intrepid or not.

I'm facing the same problem. I followed this article:

http://www.pendrivelinux.com/2008/11/04/live-ubuntu-810-usb-persistent-install-windows/

I'm able to boot perfectly with Ubuntu, but I'm unable to save any changes.

If you find something else, post here or send me a private message.

I'll keep the research and I'll do the same.

Kind regards,

Fernando

I decided to do this instead:

http://www.pendrivelinux.com/2008/11/15/usb-boot-cd-for-ubuntu-810/#more-680

My problem was that the laptop that I was using wouldn't boot from a USB. This article shows you how to use a CD that will allow that. It works perfectly.
