Trying to help out my neighbor, old 1.3 ghz P3, with a older 3com 3c905b Network card and ubuntu will not see it, or load the driver automatically. I need to find a driver and load it, and being a linux/ubuntu newbie, I have NO IDEA how to make this happen.. Help please?

No, I have Ubuntu loaded and running, but it doesnt have a network running, it hasnt loaded a driver for the 3com 3c905c (or b) Network card. I need to get the driver loaded and the network running. Ubuntu is running fine except for that.

The NIC may be dead, you can get one at bestbuy for less that $25 or try a usb wireless adapter if he has a router

Nic is fine I tested it in a windows system and put it back on linux system.
if its an older computer it may be an IRQ conflict, I had that with the NIC on my 10 yr old pc100 motherboard pc, I installed an Belkin USB wireless G adapter and it worked out of the box in ubuntu 8.10
