There really should be a guide for choosing a right desktop environment and window manager for Ubuntu. Especially when there's coming an actual Xubuntu release with Dapper!

Or is there already a guide? Or some kind of a comparment?

Or should I just try them all by myself and become a very 1337 dude who gets all the chicks?

You should try them all yourself and decide whichever is right for you. There's no single "best" WM/DE for everyone. Same goes for every kind of choice you can make in the open source world; just try and see which fits you best.

That said, take a look at this (http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=87276).

What do you want in a DE? If you want minimal and fast, go with openbox. A little less minimal, go fluxbox or blackbox. Sort of minimal, but gnomeish, go with XFCE. Traditionalist, go with Windowmaker or something similar. Full featered super desktop environments are Gnome and KDE. They have everything.

There are much more though.
