On another forum I see that someone had leaked Google Earth for OSX.

Would this take much alteration to get it running on linux?

You might want to look at earth3d (available in Universe), it's simillar to google earth (but won't get as close to cities as in that screenshot).

I used Win XP (flame suit on) for the better part of a year and Google Earth was nine kinds of slick, I miss it (GE) if and when there is a Linux ver I may just wet myself ! ;)

This is the only killer-app I miss. Google Earth is awesome.

I read somewhere that they are planning to port Google Earth to Linux.

I believe Google is in fact working on a Linux port. So it ought to be here before too long.

Regarding modifying the OSX version to run on Linux, I think it would be pretty much impossible unless the source code were leaked, right?
