"Resize operation failure" "An error occurred while writing the changes to the storage devices. The resize operation has been aborted.

Sry, I am a NEWB to this and want to install but don't understand this step at all. I have a 40.0 GB ATA ST340016A and a 80.0 GB ST380215A Idealy I would like Ubuntu to consume my computer and take out windows completely! But I seem to be stuck at step 4 of install. Please help, I don't even know what info I need to post for you!

Have you tried defraging windows before running the installer?

Hi, if you are trying to setup the computer so that Ubuntu is the only operating system and you no longer want to keep any other operating systems then you want to select the Use Entire disk option on the 3rd stage of the installer.

This WILL kill all the data on the disk you choose.

It sounds like you have tried to re-size an old windows partition, this isn't what you want to do.

Let the install remove ALL the data and make a new file structure on the disk.
