Major XP problem with ubuntu

I deleted Ubuntu using windows XP partition manager as someone in some other forum advertisement to since I wanted to go back to 8.04 and now XP will not boot up with an error 17 or something.

When I used Ubuntu live CD it said it can detect any other partition on the disk even though I didn't touch the windows partition. Help, I there is no way for me to get windows for the next few months.

if all else fails you can pop in a Knoppix Live Disk and poke around your computer that way. It has a whole bunch of partition editors, and you can see the files in each partition.
