Lately I've been using 000webhost.

It's fine and all. Just that my website doesn't work sometimes... a lot...

So I was just going to ask the most techy place I go to. Aka, here.
What's a good free webhost?

I need:
1. FTP stuff
2. Preferably short link (not like name.this-is-a-webhost-so-use-it.com)
3. All the other good stuff. :P

I'm just going to be putting on WordPress and various other files.

I know you said free, but you can get a domain name & dreamhost account for about $30/yr with some coupons. ;o

If you're up for learning a hell of a lot in a short period of time, you could install Server on an old box, connect it to your network, and forward ports through your router with DynDNS, effectively becoming your OWN webhost.

I've had a lot of fun doing it that way, but I wouldn't recommend it if you're doing this for a third party. You'll walk away from the experience with a *much* clearer picture of how the web and networking in general work, however.

x10hosting is really good, I haven't had any issues with them. They have a really high bandwidth cap, and a bunch of features I've only seen with a paid host. You can have a paid plan, but their ad enhanced corporate plan is so good, why pay?

I used freehostia for a site ages ago, don't have a site anymore (mainly just made it to pass some time and get some PHP experience).

You can get up to 3 subdomains per site (you'd have http://example.freehostia.com/, that's not too long?).

They seem to offer reasonable amounts of space and bandwidth, but obviously you should make sure it'd be enough for your website.
