First: I am sure this site is not affiliated with the maker of ultimate edition, and i am sure i can get a more honest answer from this forum to the following questions.

1: So I visited http://ultimateedition.info/ and I am curious, what is the difference between the gamers and ultimate edition? I can not discern from the web site what is different in these two versions.

2: Can I upgrade from my Hardy Heron x64 to ultimate?

3: Can I expect problems with devices, drivers, and software not working with an upgrade/fresh installation.

THIS IS MY KEY QUESTION!
4: What are the advantages and disadvantage to installing the ultimate or gaming edition of ubuntu. In what instance would one install it. Is there a reason why one should steer clear of this distro?

I have not been on this forum in months, let me introduce myself. I am the creator / writer of Ultimate Edition, we now have our own forum (http://forumubuntusoftware.info/) may have something to do with it. I stand corrected: You last visited: January 24th, 2008 at 03:54 AM almost a year :)

I will try and break it all down question by question...

#1:
Gamers v/s Ultimate Edition, the same as Ultimate Edition as the webpage says with the following games pre-installed:
* Supertux
* Actioncube
* Assaultcube
* Warsow
* Wesnoth
* Glest
* Scorched3d
* Dreamchess
* Sauerbraten
* Gridwars
* Vgacardgames
* Alien arena 2007
* Brikx
* Nexuiz
* Vertris
* Openarena
* Pokerth
* Snowballz
* Chromium
* Gnome-hearts
* Open arena
* Scorched3d
* Urban terror

#2 yes & no, I am also the writer of Ultamatix (http://ultamatix.com/). I have a release that is coming that will wake up 3 nix communities. Debian, Ubuntu & Mepis (they are on the back burner until -7 release)

The yes I refer to I have written threads on my forum explaining how and will not waste my time repeating my self.

#3 I have taken the time even on this forum trying to find out what problems users are experiencing & fix them, I am however 1 man (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=507199)

#4 Try it, don't like it don't install it, this is not Microsoft, you can at least try before installing ;)

Funny & only 4 posts here, I wonder why, look at my other nick with 2003 on the end ;)

Merry Xmas,

TheeMahn

You are the creator of Ultamitx?

Thank you! i find the program useful and very helpful. I'm just afraid that it might screw up my system...

I'm quite new to Ubuntu / Linux and I'm really trying to learn the easy way of doing things. thanks to your nifty program it has made my Ubuntu experience much better.

You see, I ditched Windows and don't intend to go back - ever!

Thanks and all the best.
