Metacity - How do you use

I have not been able to find any good documentation on Metacity and wonder if any one can answer these questions?

Does Metacity require / rely on Compiz to work?

How do you import / appy themes?

Do I need to set Metacity to load at start up, if so how?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I believe you will get better resolution and effects using emerald. But that having been said, Install Compiz Fusion Icon from synaptics, and using that will enable you to set your window manager. To use metacity without the Icon, just type the following in terminal: :P

gtk-window-decorator --replace &
