View Full Version : [ubuntu] Boot from live CD starts OK then goes to black screen

I've created a CD of Ubuntu 8.10 and can boot from disk up to the point where it offers the choices between installing, running without changing anything on my computer, etc. When I choose the test run option it throws up the Ubuntu logo and the time bar, then when the time bar is full the screen goes black - first with a cursor at top left, then with a white dot in the middle of the screen. After a while a pointer arrow appears, aimed at the middle of the white dot. A little later a chord plays. Then nothing more happens.

My computer is running Windows XP with an AMD Athlon 64 3000+ processor. It apparently has a VIA/S3G UnichromeII graphics card, if that is relevant and someone can help.

Beats me!
