[SOLVED] Trouble installing Ubuntu

Hello, I currently have Ubuntu dual booting with Windows Vista on my laptop. I decided that I want to dual boot Windows XP with Ubuntu on my desktop but whenever I try to load the CD and install it makes the attempt but then gives me a screen full of flashing lights. Any advice?

how far in te boot process does the Cd make it? you could try setting the boot "quite" feature off. and see if you get a text error. you could post here.

How would I change the boot "quite" feature off? When I force shutdown my computer after that color screen it beeps and sometimes flashes a quick error message. I'll see if I can post that up here.

Okay, it installed successfully after changing the bootup into something like a "safe image mode" (something like that, it was the second choice on the list). Now it's up and running, thank you!
