What's the most beautiful place in the world, in your opinion?

Post photos to aid your expanation.

I'm going to have to cast my vote for the Lauterbrunnen Valley in Switzerland (I've been there myself)... (though parts of New Zealand are also contenders)

Switzerland is indeed very beautiful. I was also tempted by Cabo Pulmo in Baja California Sur, Denali National Park up here in Alaska, the Ko'olau Range on Oahu, and many other areas in the southwest, but I chose Zion National Park in Utah.

To me, Zion provides a medley of the best characteristics of the major southwest parks. It has a bit of the Grand Canyon, Bryce, Arches, and Canyonlands. The hiking is fantastic and the whole area is spectacular.

Man, my first thought, reading the title was that it was impossible to declare the most beautiful place in the world. I've done a lot of traveling, and I've seen a lot of beautiful sights. In fact, I can think of real beauty hidden in some of the most unexpected places (coming down a mountain in W. PA, and suddenly seeing the Ohio River winding its way through a valley, with barges floating up and down it, or a hidden beach on the Fl panhandle, or the beautiful Tatra mountains (from Slowakia and Poland), or the German Alps, as viewed from an airplane on approach, just to name a few). However, that thought lasted for only a second or two. I suddenly realized that there is one place that I _know_ I could never get enough of! There is absolutely no way to even begin to capture its grandeur, it's massive scale, and the beauty that surpasses even its vast scale. If you want to find a place that takes your breath away, and doesn't give it back, and does this around every corner, and that will literally fill whatever memory card(s) you may have for your digital camera, yet, despite all the skill in the world, you will never begin to capture its trembling beauty... if you want a place that surpasses it all, there is only one place that I can think of--at least for me. That place, I'm surprised to say, I haven't found on any of the previous 7 pages, and I'm surprised. That place is the Grand Canyon. I visited it for a day and a half back in 2005, and I have never truly left it. I fell in love with the deserts of Arizona, but the Grand Canyon is just absolutely a step above most other places in the world. Now, I know that for its massive beauty, there are the Himalayas, with Mt. Everest and K2, and there are some spectacular mountains, but this is the most gut-wrenchingly beautiful hole you will ever find. ;-) My one, lame sunset photo doesn't begin to capture one thimble-worth--it would take a thousand photos to reach even that bit. I offer up the Grand Canyon.

Interesting post, i have been there, and yes it is beauty and immensely grand on scale, but for me not the most beautiful for example, the great barrier reef has it beaten yet i doubt i could even call that the most beautiful.

For me the most beautiful place has to be somewhere that's none commercial and obscure........

Yet i respect that it's a matter of opinion
