I just recieved my Pangolin and i love it! I have to say though, that i prefer Kubuntu. If i were to uninstall ubuntu and then install kubuntu, can i still use the system76 drivers?

To avoid any problems, or at least reduce them just install the kubuntu-desktop on to your current ubuntu and then if you want follow the info here to remove ubuntu (gnome) altogether.

http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/purekde

Possibly there could be driver difficulties (wireless, graphics), but I don't know of any more likely problems.

The driver will certainly run on Kubuntu. However, we don't test it to make sure all of the patches in the driver work with Kubuntu...

But I'm 96.9% sure they do.

Ok, so i have been using my panp4n for a few days now under kubuntu. The quick buttons work (Well for me only the web page button at this point) The usb ports are working, except it wont acknowledge my digital camera. The web camera works, but i havent gotten the mic to work (i need it for skype) But i havent played with it much. All the 'fn' keys seem to work. I havent had any issues. I think it is safe to say that if you want kubuntu on your system76 computer, and keep the drivers, would be to install the KDE desktop and then delete Ubuntu afterward using the code from the previous poster. It worked for me with no problems, it took five minutes to do, and its a complete Kubuntu system!

I have the same laptop and at first I had issues with the internal mic. I eventually got it to work with paulseaudio. I cannot remember the steps as I am at work and on a windows computer and cannot check but that is somewhere to start.

As for skype I couldnt get the internal mic to work but I have a logitec headset that I use and it works just fine.

Audio in Linux is just one big cluster F$#K.

Ubuntu needs to choose just one and stick with it!!

Thank you! I will give that a try! And an update on the system76 driver, i went to their site and grabbed the latest driver, which installed with no problems. The mic still does not work.
