Ok, so this isn't exactly technology-related, but given the fact that so many of us tech geeks are also sci-fi fans, I thought it appropriate to mention this.
Majel Barrett-Roddenberry, wife of the late Gene Roddenberry, creator of Star Trek, died today in her home of leukemia.

I actually got to meet her at a Star Trek convention that my local Star Trek group had organized and run. She was such a very warm and personable lady, and I don't think there was a person in attendance who didn't like her. Everyone has their time, I know, and we can't hold onto everything and everyone forever, but it really sucks when we loose the nice ones.
Rest in peace, Majel.
