I am trying to make Firefox look as much like a text browser as possible, just for fun.

Is there any way to disable stylesheets permanently by default for all pages? I can click View->Page Style->No Style, but it only sets it for that page.

Is there any way to set this option as default for all pages?

Try this:

Yellowpipe Lynx Viewer for Firefox (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1944)

That's not exactly what I'm looking for. It would have worked, had I been able to set the default behavior to use lynx, but instead I have to load the page, then right-click and view in lynx. I want it to do that by default on page load.

Okay, maybe this add-on will be better:

http://chrispederick.com/work/web-developer/

If you install that, then select 'Persist Features' from the toolbar's option menu before disabling styles, images, java etc. it should remain as default for any new pages opened.

It won't be exactly like Lynx (form fields in particular) but it may be more up your street.

Thanks. I'll be checking that out in a bit. Right now I'm in links-g and it is absolutely awesome! :D

Well there is Vimperator firefox add on, which is what I'm using. What it does is hide all the toolbars, just the tab bar with a slim address bar at the bottom and a command bar (to replace the status bar) like in vim. It's really good if you like to keep your hands on the keyboard.

Where exactly is this again? I can't seem to find it, else I am blind.

Persist features is under options. Web Developer is a great tool for removing all the crap some webpages have.

When I used to use Firefox back in the middle ages, I recall there being a menu under the "View" menu for selecting stylesheets.

Epiphany has an extension which allows stylesheet selection, including "none".
