[SOLVED] Installation woes

Well, I had planned on running WoW in Wine, but got irritated and installed XP SP3. The only way I could install it was change my Bios to IDE from SATA to install. Well, I have XP running fine. WoW runs AWESOME. Now the problem. After the XP install, I wanted to dual-boot XP and Ubuntu 8.10. When I try to install Ubuntu, the partioner does not recognize the XP install at all. It did when I ran Vista but not XP. Does anyone know what could cause this or know of a way to install Ubuntu without wiping out XP? Thanks in advance.

You can install the ubuntu inside windows with the wubi installer.

I know, but XP barely works. It is just for WoW. I want a seperate partition for Ubuntu.

If you are using the wubi it works like a seperate partition and it's boot just like a native install.

Just download the wubi installer from http://wubi-installer.org/
by running this installer it download and install the ubuntu automaticaly.

Is there a WIki on Wubi? I can't seem to get it to do anything but ask to restart and do what I already can.

Thanks for the link, but Wubi does me no good, because my XP install is a hacked version. I have almost no drivers for anything but audio and wireless. Installing it in Windows isn't what I want to do. Plus, a max of 30 gigs? I have a 160 gig HDD and I really want 50 gis for XP and the rest for Ubuntu, not the other way around.

Just make two partiotions one 50 GB for Xp and other for ubuntu.You can use softwares like the partition magic inside windows or gparted inside the linux.
