Locking on installation

I have a laptop , it locks on installation what can I do to get it installed

What is the spec of your laptop? Which release have you tried? What exact does "lock" mean anyway?

Look for your hardware, maybe you need special option to install.

yes this is a hardware problem....

Some of my friends faced this problem and they took it to some Computers solution centre and they fixed the problem by attaching some specific device to the HDD...i forgot which device it was....

The problem was that they couldn't install any other OS..specifically XP/VISTA when any linux distro is installed...

But lets hope and see that there is some other alternative
