hi i am new in ubuntu. i have it only for one day. so i need some help with installation. i have downloaded some packages witch opens with archive but i don't know how to install it. there were some read me files about how to install but i don't understand where i have to go and what to do. for example one package is gtkpod-0.99.12.tar.gz
i am also sad that i cannot install some great program that i used to have on windows like lightroom 1.4 and SRS audio sandbox. i tried to install true Crossover but they after install didn't launch. is there any solution? also i wanted to install Wine but also it was in package and i don't understand how to install it.
so please help me.
