View Full Version : [xubuntu] Install Xubuntu to CF Card by USB, will later work through IDE adapter?

I have a gutted laptop without a disc drive. I also have an adapter that plugs into an IDE port on the laptop's motherboard and lets it boot to CF flash cards. I want to run Xubuntu on this laptop from that CF card plugged into IDE. This gutted laptop sees the CF card as a hard drive, but I'm unable to install the OS without a disc drive--and its too old to boot to my USB CD drive.

Can I install Xubuntu from a newer machine through a USB/CF adapter, and then pop the CF card into the IDE/CF adapter and expect it to work on the other machine?

This is a bit tricky, I hope someone can help me.
Thanks!
