well FVWM-crystal is just a theme for FVWM so you'll need FVWM for it to work.

Here is a screenshot of my FVWM desktop. (http://starbreaker.net/gallery/2005-12-10-014037_1600x1200_scrot.png) It's not fancy, but I do have working thumbnails instead of FVWM's default icons. The pager's a bit hard to see, but I like it as it is; it's unobtrusive. Oh, and Bruce Dickinson frigging rules.

I think fvwm was one of the first

here's what i'm runing currently (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v196/egonspengler/Screenshot.jpg), basically stonecrest's setup with a different wallpaper.

I had my own config but erased it in a lapse of concentration while tying out a config I dled, need to get round to recreating it one day.

The good thing about fvwm is that you can do almost anything you want. It's more configurable than gnome, kde, explorer, any box or mac. The only thing I know of that comes close is litestep on windows

The downside is that you really have to RTFM before you can understand exactly how FVWM's configs work. I spent an hour snarling and reading the manuals before I finally figured out exactly how exactly the colorsets work.

wow I like it.

Thanks. I could tar it up and post it if you wanted. There's the FVWM config, and there's also a custom GTK theme to go with it.
