Just a small idea: Wouldn't it be a nice thing to have weekly snapshots of the wiki-articles (and the articles here in the forum's FAQ section) available as docbook packages browsable with yelp?

Or perhaps a complete switch to docbook based user contributions.

This way people could always have at least half-recent documentation available offline and accessible through one source (yelp in this case) which would make the whole distribution even more accessible.

ubuntu traffic summarizes the mailing list and irc happenings:

if you think a particular forum thread deserves attention you can email benjamin mako hill and he will consider putting it into the newletter. at least that is what he told me.

also check this:

http://www.ubuntuguide.org - it is great, when the site is up.

I will start (manually) porting some of the howtos (like the multimedia one) into docbook and see how fast I can figure out how to integrate stuff correctly into yelp. Let's see ;-)

I'm not sure, if I'll have enough time for automating (...I hope this word exists *g*) the whole procedure as I've currently only very little spare time. Let's see here too *g*

I don't mean something like news or nice forum topics but real howtos or "user contributed documentation" as well as things like a complete "ubuntu userguide" being available through yelp also offline :)

Oops. Sorry, I didn't notice that the docs (\Usercontributions) docbooks anyway :)
Perhaps I was just a little bit too motivated :)

thats not a bad thing at all. perhaps you could fill in the "holes" for the ubuntu guide or help out in the next version for hoary(will be out in a few months). you could also find areas in the howtos section that need additions or contributions. there is never too much good documentaion.
