I have a Bellsouth POP3 Account and I need to have it as IMAP. Is there anyway to do this?

Does your ISP support IMAP ? Call them and ask.

Alternatively you can set up a gmail account and have it forward your bellsouth email to your gmail account. Gmail does have IMAP facility.

There are probably other ways of doing it.

I would set up POP to Gmail and then access Gmail via IMAP.

I am currently doing this for my wife who has email through her website account so when she is at home it doesn't matter which computer she is using she can send/read/receive her email.

And in those desperate times, it's easy to view the Gmail online for when you are not near your home computer (and remembering http://gmail.google.com/gmail is a lot easier than the URL for ISP emails!)

I don't know if Hotmail or Yahoo! Mail offers these (POP / IMAP) services but Gmail is good with them.

I think there is a feature in Gmail to "pull" your POP account, instead of having to have it forwarded to your Gmail account. This may make a difference if BellSouth doesn't let you forward it.

yes you can set gmail up so it checks a pop3 mailbox and then downloads it to its inbox.

and you can just use gmail.com, not www.google.com/gmail =P
