View Full Version : [ubuntu] Undoing updates Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid

December 15th, 2008, 12:34 AM
I let the comp install some updates yesterday that ended up changing the the look of Ubuntu (icons, window border) and the sound. the sound on the comp now is crap and I really don't like the new blue look. any ideas on how to get things back to how they were. I am new to Linux, but not to computers. any help would be great. thanks

From what you're saying, you didn't install "updates" (i.e., upgrades to existing packages), you installed new packages.

If you know which ones you installed, you can open Synaptec and uninstall them -- but that may removed LOTS of other packages, depending on what you installed.

There is no generic "system restore" capability that will rollback changes to a certain date.
