I have an Asus Eee Pc and don't have a cd drive, but the only copy of Ubuntu that I can download is an ISO. Now, I also have an 8 Gb thumb drive that I can use, but can't figure out how to boot an ISO off a thumb drive. I have done this before, but don't remember how, and think it had something to do with formating the thumb drive to vfat and maybe using dd to transfer the ISO to the thumb drive.

Thanks for the help ):P

bye.

If you are using version 8.10, go to System>Administration>Create USB start up disk. Follow the instructions. I installed it without creating anything on an empty 8GB flash.

I would recommend Unetbootin in your situation: http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/
