I am playing with customisation of a custom Ubuntu with LXDE (see the link in my signature).

I'm now experimenting with LXLauncher (the LXDE Netbook launcher), and was wondering if anyone knows how it arranges the icons in tabs. I know it uses .desktop files in /usr/share/applications and is based on gnome-menu.

I like the idea of using the Netbook-style launcher to create an easy to use Linux for people unfamiliar with computers. Internet, Play, Work, Media, Logout and Settings tabs would be good. Some of those already appear to be possible, but I am wondering whether it's possible to add other groups.

yes, it is. but i forget how i went about it. look in synaptic to see where stuff was installed, it's just a matter of copying & changing files, then putting what you want in it via the group setting in the *.desktop file.

sorry, i played with sometime ago and got bored with it fast.
