I decided to try kubuntu when intrepid came out and enjoyed it but I feel like I'd like to move back to gnome. Now I know I could install it and login seperately but to be honest I don't want to waste that much hdd space with apps I may or may not have installed that are useless or pointless in gnome. I'd like to know if there's a list of packages installed by default in ubuntu(gnome) so I can just go through and select those, restart and have gnome only.

I think I'd like to know if there's a list because I tend to install packages to try stuff out and sometimes auto-remove doesn't find all the ones I had installed but found no use for.

Thanks

To install the default Ubuntu applications, just install ubuntu-desktop:

sudo aptitude install ubuntu-desktop

That pulls in all the default applications. For Intrepid, this is the list (http://packages.ubuntu.com/intrepid/ubuntu-desktop).

Have a look here (http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/puregnome) for how to remove all the default Kubuntu applications.
