Just installed, and comp wont boot unless I hit keyboard.

Hello,
I just installed xubuntu 8.10 on my Toshiba Laptop A35S159, I turned off splash screen and what happens is at random steps it will just hand there until I press a bunch of buttons. then it will continue. I don't know if it will ever finish booting by itself because I have left it 15min and it hadn't booted yet. This is a mobile P4, could it be something with SpeedStep? I also tried with real ubuntu install cd and notice the same thing. The progress bar will pause then I hit enter and it will keep going.

I have had the same issue with my hp dv6000. I have to press the spacebar to load the system. Once it gets to the login I'm fine.

I also saw this same issue with the live cd.
