View Full Version : [SOLVED] Why such version numbers?

Why doesn't Canonical follow a linear sequence for it's main releases. I know sometimes you need to go from n.x to (n+1).0 because you have many changes, but it seems we are always going to n.04, why shouldn't the next release be 9.0 or 8.20?

I know many of you are going to say, "why not 9.04?"

The version number reflects the year and month they were released, so it makes good sense. 9.04 will be numbered so because it'll be released in April of next year.
