I just bought a Dell Inspiron Mini 9 with Ubuntu and I have no experience with Ubuntu. I'm currently using the graphical user inferface only. I have no experience with the terminal.

It's a netbook so the screen is small. I am able to zoom in for most web pages, but I got onto this chat, I think it's Java and I can't zoom.

Do I have to run the magnifer? How do I run it? I can't find an icon for it. I think it's Ocra or something.

Thanks so fun.

If you have compiz (desktop effects) enabled and either the magnifier or enhanced desktop zoom plugin enabled (look in system preferences>compizconfig settings manager - Accessibility) you can use super + scroll up/down to zoom the desktop (super is normally the key with the windows logo on it)

You may have to install compiz settings manager,

* System>administration>Synaptic Package Manager
* type compizconfig in the search box
* right click the package and mark for installation
click Apply
