I did searched the forum but didn't really found any working solution to the problem, so here I am :)

I have a dell m70 laptop, with an nvidia quadro fx 1400 adapter. After much fiddling, I eventually succeded to install and activate the nvidia drivers (rev 96). My only problem is, every time I start ubuntu, I have to reconfigure my video settings, because it resets the display resolution to 1280x1024, even if native resolution is 1680x1050. Everytime I reconfigure using the nvidia-settings utility, I save the xorg.conf. And everytime I reboot, I have to make the work again...

Now, is there any kind soul who can lend me a hand?

This is my xorg.conf (I added manually the modes 1680x1050 line under display).

Yes, I am :(
But it doesn't work. It "forgets" the config...

Just out of curiosity... Is it possible there is another xorg.conf file that gets read instead of the one placed in /etc/X11/ ? I don't really understand why it keeps forgetting the display resolution settings every time I restart/reboot/logout...
