I tried to run add or remove programs and Ubuntu 7.04 pops up Cannot download all repository indexes and show each URL and Packages.gz 404 not found.

Is there a way to correct this?

I am using 7.04 because so far it's the only version I can get to setup & install at 1400 x 900. The latest version refuses to find any resolution above 1024 x 768. (Nvida 6800 video card/ HP w1907 monitor)

TIA

That'll be because Feisty is out of support now

There are packages at the archives - it might work if you change the repos to those
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/

You might be better of trying to get the card to work. I have a 6200 and a generic tft which is working ok

Is there any way to "force" 8.04 to use 1400 x 900 in setup? I was able to get 7.04 to work by rebooting about 10 times and finally came up in proper resolution.

(BTW I can't even upgrade because of the bad repositories. http://ubuntuforums.org/images/smilies/icon_mad.gif )
Thanks

I have an 8600GT and the same monitor, I can get 1400 x 900 working perfectly. Hope this information helps. (you can pick up 8600GT's extremely cheap these days).

Now that feisty is out of support I don't know that you will be able to upgrade - erven if you could you'd soon be faced with doing the same for gutsy. I think your best bet would be to download a livecd hardy which is the lts - not the newest intrepid version.

If you were looking at intrepid when it was first released there were problems with nvidia drivers and the newest xorg, afaik these are now resolved.

AS I said I have a 6200 and a noname tft working perfectly at 1440x900 and the tvout at 800x600.
