Hi All!

I've only recently been using a dual boot XP / Ubuntu system at work and I'm liking Ubuntu more and more.

I kinda run into an issue that after the notebook is open for a while and I'm browsing several windows in Firefox (be it in XP or Ubuntu) the system stalls and then at the first available opportunity types nothing but the letter "n" even with no one pressing on the keys.

Thinking that it may be a memory problem, I'm planning on wiping XP altogether and run Ubuntu all the way. This being the case, I've already set up Evolution and installed my bookmarks into FireFox and what not.

I was told that all I need to do is copy the "Home" folder and everything will be saved. Email, addresses, bookmarks, documents, everything! After the full install, all I have to do is overwrite the home folder with the one I backed up and everything will be dandy.

Is this the way to go?

I'd appreciate your feedback and replies soon as I'm planning my reinstall withing the next few days while I still don't have too much files in here.

Thanks.

Hope to hear from y'all soon.

Best regards! :p

You can move your current /home folder to its own partition which will allow you to reinstall without wiping your /home. See here (http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/separatehome).
If you want to backup your /home to another medium then you could try using hubackup (http://www.ubuntugeek.com/hubackup-backup-application-for-ubuntu-home-users.html)
