Hi

I am trying to have triple book on my system. I have macos and I want to have xp and ubuntu. Not I can install these no problem. But today I realised that after havig Refit installed on my mac, I will be using the last primary partition for Ubuntu (if it would let me do it). And later I mgiht have issues if I need one more partition.

Is it possible to install Ubuntu and grub on extended partition?

thanks

yes, just tell the installer to do so and it will be perfectly happy to use an extended partition.

Hi

Thanks for the answer. I just tried Gparted(live cd version) to create extended partition ahead of the time. But it is giving me an error like "gpt disk labels do not support extended partitions". I have macos and ntfs partitions and I want to put Ubuntu on extended. Do you think that Ubuntu installer might be less strict about creating the partition?

thanks
