When I try to upgrade to 8.10 I receive the error message "W.failed to fetch http://archive canonical.com/ubuntu/dists/intrepid/Release unable to find expected entry deb/binary-i386/packages in Meta-index file (Malformed release file?)" I read previous posts but no solution has worked. Please help the ignorant.

So you have ticked the normal release in software sources if your upgrading through the manager, also I always use the main server, and your updated in the I assume Hardy distro.

I have checked "main server" for downloads in software sources. I am trying to upgrade from 8.04 to 8.10

You also have ticked normal releases in update in software sources and done a final update for canononical/Hardy, correct. I don't know about this but here is a thread where somebody had noticed a change in the url for Hardy use this information as it seems appropriate.

I have 2 hard drives in my system. I upgraded one of them seamlessly. The other always gives the error message described above. It is not a problem with my internet connection. It must have something to do with my settings but I can't figure what's different.

On the system which upgraded properly, I can't figure out how to install my wireless drivers. I have a cd with the drivers for windows. When I click of the :windows drivers" option under system I can't determine what procedure to follow to get the drivers properly installed. Again, forgive my ignorance. Help.

If you give a more detailed description of what 2 hard drives, your whole system setup, and what you have done and updated too. You will probably get the answers you need. It is hard for me to figure out exactly what the problems are, a true geek might help, but I am not one.
