Samsung 64GB Solid State Disk + Ubuntu 8.04 is Like Running a Lambo at full speed and at the top speed you press the Nitrus Oxide.
You should try this!
POST Screen to Login In Windows = 4 secs!
Copy of 1GB File (database file) 13 secs!
File Extract (Default Program, size of file 160 MB) = 2 secs!

How does Windows run on it? I've heard bad things about Windows and some SSDs.

Well one of the problems with SSD's is that you can lose all your data from a power surge.

Kinda...the new ones comes with a system on them that prevents things like that.

Well one of the problems with SSD's is that you can lose all your data from a power surge.

Any electronic component can get smoked by a power surge. Even magnetic drives have a fair bit of electronics packed into them that will die if you pass them a large enough spike (although you could conceivably replace the electronics on a magnetic HD and recover some or all of your data)

If you're smart you'll have your PC and other expensive electronics protected from spikes anyway. Nearby lightning strikes can put some pretty impressive transients down your wiring.

if you don't have a surge protector the you should probably get one SSD or no SSD
