Now I'm not much of a programmer but if I understand correctly, this seems to be the next logical step to improving web applications?

It sure is, the pure awesomeness of this is gargantuan!

I for one will be investing a lot of time into this, even if it only runs on Chrome Beta for now. Soon it will be an integral part of Chrome and there will be plugin's for other browsers. I also have a feeling Firefox may integrate it into their own browser but we'll have to see, fingers crossed.

I see this as a huge step in the future of web, I only wish it came a few years back ^^
