I am trying to resolve a number of odd problems associated with the installation of Ubuntu 8.10 on a Acer Aspire One laptop.
t
My question is related to the processor which is an Intel Atom N270.
Most Intel processors are 386.

I had read that the Atom uses the iPia architecture.

I was at medibuntu and selected the iPia option and it was rejected when trying to be installed, making me wonder if somehow I have the wrong installed version of Ubuntu (or even if this is possible)

Perhaps I should take a break for this :p

I have no idea what "iPia" is , but the Atom uses the standard x86 instruction set (i386 versions should work fine).

I wish to thank both replies.
Nathan Sweeney who clarified which direction I should be looking.
(blind paths do not get results)

Meindian523 link provided me with new info (which I wished I had earlier since I installed using a USB optical drive) and the tweaks which look interesting.

Thank You both.
