I removed some shortcuts from the dock yesterday and enabled a couple more applets. Now every time I start my computer it comes up with the main config box, which now says "Maintenance mode" at the top. All I have to do is hit OK, but why does it do this? Its annoying.

Ah. Apparently it doesn't do this every boot cycle, just every other or something. I have noticed that if I shutdown properly then maint mode comes up next time, but sometimes, only if I just pull the power out, it will load normally next time.

tAKE MY ADVICE SERIOUSLY ! :DO NOT JUST UNPLUG YOUR SYSTEM ! YOU ARE RISKING SERIOUS HARD DRIVE CORRUPTION !
I know when i did it , since it does not unmount your drives properly . If your system freezes and no other thing helps use this :

Also makes you look like real linux bad a** !!!:lolflag::lolflag:

I wouldn't normally just pull the cord, but it is a laptop, and the battery doesn't work, and it is obvoiusly more mobile than a desktop, and the cord doesn't stay in well, falls out sometimes, and well, accidents happen occasionally.

BTW: thanks for the tip on sysrq. Not something I had come across in using linux for 3 years, but very handy.
