View Full Version : [gnome] Some screensavers do not stop upon moving the mouse

Hello,

First, a little bit of background. The usual behaviour for screensavers, at least on Windows and Gnome (I don't know about other desktop environments - but it's probably the same), is to stop immediatly when the mouse is moved, and perhaps ask for a password to unlock the screen. At least that's what I've come to expect of screensavers after many years of consistently seeing it, and it was standard behaviour up to Hardy Heron.

Now I've upgraded to Intrepid Ibex, and with some Gnome screensaver themes that happens no more. For example, with AntInspect as the screensaver, I have to click one of the mouse buttons or press a key to stop it - just moving the mouse doesn't work.
The strangest thing is that moving the mouse does actually work on some other screensaver themes. Some of the themes that work fine include Blank screen, Deco, Lattice, and Plasma. Some of the troublesome ones, on the other hand, include JigglyPuff, Lavalite, Lockward, MirrorBlob, Molecule, Queens and Voronoi.

Any idea on what could be happening here?

Thanks in advance.
