I have trolled the forums looking for somebody who has the same issue but cant find anything, so appologies if this is in another thread.

ubuntu 8.10

Problem: I have installed emerald twice everything fine except when I load a theme it only changes the window frame not the window, I have tried many different themes to be sure.

When I query 'emerald' in my terminal I get this response.

Checking for Xgl: not present.
Detected PCI ID for VGA:
Checking for texture_from_pixmap: present.
Checking for non power of two support: present.
Checking for Composite extension: present.
Comparing resolution (1280x800) to maximum 3D texture size (4096): Passed.
Checking for Software Rasterizer: Not present.
Checking for nVidia: present.
Checking for FBConfig: present.
Checking for Xgl: not present.
/usr/bin/compiz.real (video) - Warn: No 8 bit GLX pixmap format, disabling YV12 image format

Have tried my best but just cant figure it out or even if this is the problem. Could one of you brainiacs help me out, would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance,

thanx, if you need any other info from me that would help please leme know

Emerald is a window decorator:

This explains the Decoration plugin:

From what you posted it's doing what is suppose to do.

I think what you want is a desktop theme, take a look at this:
