I was installing Ubuntu 8.10 on my one of my other pc. It has a Intel 1.5 gig processor 700 some mb or ram and a 150gig harddrive. when i install i get to the install/run demo/check cd/ etc fine. i select install Ubuntu and it goes through all the command lines but then it comes to a screen that is all jacked up and i can see some bits of windows in it. So i used GParted and completely wiped xp of the drive but im still getting the problem. any suggestions?

Start up in safe graphics mode, press F4 at the menu screen, and install when you get tot he desktop. This won't affect the installation in any way. The LiveCD is not setecting your graphics adapter properly.
