wine problem? no letters

Hi all:

I am new to linux/Ubuntu and I have being trying it and until now I like it a lot. I jusy have a problem I have ubuntu 8.10 and I have installed wine but when I opne the program I have no letters. I am attaching an image. Any ideias?

I have installed cube recently.

HI, managed to find the problem. I have a nvdia ti4200 and ubuntu installed the drivers automatically. If I deactivate the Hardware drivers it works? Any solution to install better drivers?

hum, this way I loose all the effects, like cube and wobbly windows. any suggestion?

try to set the level of effects to extra. it helps me with wine letters but in OpenOffice i'd lost all menues :(
